Flying Eagles

Flying Eagles is a Flying Scooters type amusement ride at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia in the United States.[1] It consists of a center post with ride vehicles suspended from arms attached to the center post.

When the ride is in operation, a motor causes the arms to spin, with centrifugal forces causing the ride vehicles to fly outwards. Each ride vehicle is equipped with a large rudder, allowing riders to control the motion of their vehicle. There is no minimum rider height requirement for Flying Eagles. However, the rider must be accompanied by a responsible person if the rider less than 48 inches tall.[2] Flying Eagles is considered a mild thrill ride, and has a thrill rating of 2 out of 5 on the Kings Dominion ride rating system.[2]

Cable snapping

A skilled rider can "snap" the cables suspending the vehicle. Snapping is caused by the cables slacking due to quick motions of the vehicle. Snapping is made easier on a faster Flying Eagles ride. Snapping is sometimes discouraged due to maintenance and safety reasons.
